I’m looking to hire a freelance contributor to own a fast-growing and increasingly important area of our coverage: POWER & ENERGY. This contracted position pays $5k/month (~20 stories/month).
You should have deep reporting experience in—and a clear passion for—the science behind the sources that keep the world running, and crucially, how they’re constantly evolving. We want to generate daily news and occasional features about the non-stop innovations in…
- ELECTRICITY: Batteries! Batteries! Batteries! PM’s readers LOVE all things batteries and energy storage. Plus: the advent of wireless electricity, the future of the electric grid, etc. (See examples below.)
- CLEAN ENERGY & NUCLEAR: What’s happening in nuclear, solar, wind, water, geothermal, and hydro/fuel cells? We need someone who can stay on top of renewables news and regularly draw on their contacts in these fields.
- FOSSIL FUELS: Natural gas, coal, and oil still primarily power our lives. What surprising steps are scientists taking to make these non-renewable resources cleaner? (Think: carbon capture and storage).
