September 2022 Rivers: A River Runs Through It
*pitch deadline 18 July
As wine professionals, we spend a lot of time describing the influence of soil on wine. But what about the influence of water? Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and South Tyrol are graced with many rivers that link and divide regions. We want to explore these crucial waterways – large and small – and their influence on wine culture along their banks.
GUIDELINES
When pitching an article, please describe your idea and why it would be a good fit specifically for TRINK. Be concise, specific, and clear. Include a headline that suggests what the story is about, some of your proposed sources or source types, and the angle you’ll take in covering the story. Please be sure your pitch answers the fundamental questions 1. “Why this (topic)?” 2.“Why now?” 3.”Why you?” (as in, why are you the best person to tell it). Send your pitch to hello@trinkmag.com. Please be sure to also include a short bio, including past publications.
While we are always open to timely, relevant pitches that will resonate with our highly targeted readership, we’re currently seeking story ideas within a few specific categories and rubrics, listed below. We reserve the right to refuse drafts we don’t feel meet our standards.

TO HELP YOU CRAFT YOUR PITCH:
- Learn more about the publication: TRINK is the first and only English-language digital publication dedicated to the "German-speaking wines" of Austria, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. On-the-ground reporting from world-class authors and journalists, narrative essays, interviews, bottle picks and food pairings get to the heart of these "umlaut wines."
- Read through a selection of recent articles/stories on its website.
- Check out our collection of pitch excerpts on this page and find more sample pitches at The Open Notebook Database and at SuccessfulPitches.com.
- Do not forget to end your pitch with (1) a short introduction about yourself; (2) a few lines highlighting your writing experience, relevant credentials and publication credits; and (3) links to your strongest work or portfolio, and online profile.
