Contributing Writers wanted (military gear, gadget, equipment reviews) | $750 per article

Are you obsessed with the latest gear and gadgets on the market? Would you consider yourself an expert or serious enthusiast when it comes to shooting, tactical, outdoor, or emergency equipment? And are you interested, at least a little bit, in the U.S. military?

As a gear contributor, you’ll be responsible for bringing your expertise to bear on subjects from tactical and survival gear to fitness and adventuring in the great outdoors. Occasionally, that’ll involve receiving a handful of fresh items from us to put through their paces. And we mean seriously put it through its paces: we want you to beat the shit out of gear and provide your unvarnished, enthusiastic feedback on the good, the bad, and the ugly.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Research products on a given topic to find the best options to review.
• Thoroughly test any products that need hands-on testing.
• If no hands-on testing is required, you will research the topic in an in-depth and intentional manner to ensure only the best products are recommended.
• If needed, interview subject matter experts to weigh in on the products
• Write a clear, accessible article giving an honest review of products in a timely manner.
• Take pictures of the testing process, unboxing, etc.
• Complete at least four articles a month.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Subject matter experience and passion with any, or all, of the following or related topics:
• Shooting, hunting, outdoor, tactical, and/or survival.
• 1+ years of professional writing experience.
• Excellent communication skills and the willingness to receive editorial feedback.
• Responsive and engaged with the edit team to ensure timely article publication.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in commerce writing
• 3+ years of professional writing experience
• Military experience, active duty or veteran
