RESEARCH ANALYST AND WRITER
Project-based contractor position
September 2022-January 2023
Food for Climate League is a women-led 501c3 research collaborative working to make climate-smart eating the norm by connecting sustainable food culture to people's core needs, values, and cultures. Funded by partnerships with Google, Unilever, Sodexo and top philanthropic organizations, we design environments and narratives that make sustainable eating easy and alluring for the masses.
As a Research Analyst and Writer, you will collaborate with Food for Climate League staff as well as our research partners to develop a report that succinctly and concisely tells a story using qualitative and quantitative data. Research responsibilities will include reviewing existing data, analyzing new field data, developing a report storyline, and creating the content of a report that will be shared widely within culinary, NGO, and entrepreneurial networks. All work will occur remotely.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- strong storytelling and communications skills,;
- strong qualitative and/or quantitative research and analysis skills
- experience with human-centered design, equity-centered community design, or related field;
- knowledge of/interest in food systems and environmental issues.
If selected, you will be offered a role for five months, with a September 2022 start date.

- Start Date: September 2022
- End Date: January 2023
- Hours: Average of 15hr/week
- Compensation: Range of $60-80/hour, commensurate with experience
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interpret extensive qualitative and quantitative datasets;
- Lead final deliverable development;
- Help develop a visual strategy to communicate findings and provide guidance to the design team;
- Manage and organize sources and citations;
- Lead copy-editing;
- Co-author related products such as issue briefs, social media posts, press releases, blogs, presentation decks, etc.; and
- Provide administrative support to the project as necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or higher at an accredited college or university;
- Knowledge of human subjects research methods;
- Excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to communicate research results and key ideas to lay and scholarly audiences;
- Capacity to thrive by working collaboratively and creatively in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills and exemplifies pride and ownership over the quality of work;
- Ability to work independently to solve problems;
- Knowledge of (or willingness to educate oneself on) food systems issues, and the connection between food, agriculture, and the climate crisis;
- Ability to work independently to manage one’s time and meet deadlines; and
- Commitment to working collaboratively with a small team of motivated individuals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years leading data analysis and report creation;
- Familiarity with Community-Based Participatory Research and/or Equity-Centered Community Design;
- Excitement about building a sustainable and healthy future for people and the planet.
