You have a keen sense of what makes thought leadership break through in a crowded field. You also have an innate curiosity about innovation and technology — and harness the unique thinking of founders and marketers at growth-stage companies. And you’re committed to quality storytelling that inspires while making complex subject matter easy to understand.
If this is you, then this role at SalientMG (SMG), a leading independent B2B agency focused on tech and startup marketing and leadership visibility, is for you.
We’re looking for freelancers/contractors to join our team’s Executive Thought Leadership Program as writers. You’ll apply your interviewing, research and writing skills to create high-quality thought leadership content for executives who lead growth-stage companies in various sectors including Adtech, Martech, Edtech, Fintech, SaaS, Retailtech and eCommerce.
As a freelancer/contractor in this role, you’ll learn SalientMG’s exceptional, proven onboarding and content development process. Additionally, you’ll be client-facing, helping leaders establish their unique platform and build industry authority. Successful candidates will be strong communicators and quick to establish and build rapport with C-level executives.
The freelancer/contractor reports to the Director of Thought Leadership and is compensated on a per-piece basis at a rate of $1,200 per piece.
RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Collaborating with SMG’s Director of Thought Leadership on client assignments, including developing bespoke messaging platforms for executives, mapped to their professional and personal goals.
- Conducting interviews with client executives and other stakeholders to create their messaging priorities and platforms resulting in high-quality thought leadership content for publication.
- Creating social and blog copy to support thought leadership content for each client.
- Determining best practices based on client feedback, including editing, while meeting specific deadlines.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience — you have a minimum of seven years content writing experience with at least two years writing thought leadership content on the brand or agency side (other ghostwriting experience at the executive level may also be considered).
- Cross-functional experience - you have a general understanding of the challenges facing executives and early- to mid-stage companies, and have experience working with specialists across digital marketing, communications, product marketing and more.
- Collaboration — you thrive in an environment where everyone works remotely; you can successfully lead and collaborate with other senior professionals and external contractors as needed.
- Initiative — you absorb new concepts quickly and can independently generate original and insightful ideas that reflect a client’s thought leadership goals. You understand a start-up mindset and can operate with speed and agility while still prioritizing quality results. You’re not afraid to share your ideas on opportunities to refine or expand SMG’s thought leadership offering.
- Excellence — you set high expectations and only put your best work in front of team members and clients.
- Communication — you have excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. You can deliver thoughts and direction in a clear and concise manner.
- Growth Mindset — you bring complementary skills and expertise to the team on a consistent basis and are always willing to teach as well as learn from team members.
- Organization — you value organization, efficiency and transparency; always striving to keep clients and team members in the loop.
