Now that I've gotten my feet set here, a reminder: Philly Mag wants your pitches. Profiles, capers, essays, yarns, city trends, investigations, and anything in-between. Features (~5,000 words) and departments (~2,500); rate is $1 per word for print.
Questions, pitches: bpearson@phillymag.com
I was talking with a writer the other day who, when I asked for pitches, said they didn't think their writing was good enough for the magazine. To which I had to remind them that I was asking them to contribute. So, please don't think like that. Pitch!
Please read the magazine: https://www.phillymag.com/. I know this sounds like a very simple thing but you'd be amazed at how many people, every day, pitch publications that they do not read and therefore do not understand.
