Politics is an ever-present force that dictates the way we navigate life. Whether we pay close attention to it or not, governments face economic, social, and public-health challenges and political parties influence the way in which we approach these issues.

At Complexly, we make videos that help our audiences develop a nuanced and complex view of the world around us. In partnership with Arizona State University, Crash Course, and YouTube, we're creating a 30-episode introduction to American Government course to provide students the tools to navigate politics with a critical eye and analytical frame of mind as we explore the use of political theories and historical and current events to understand governments' institutions and processes.

As our freelance writer, you will be responsible for researching and writing scripts on pre-selected American Government topics, working closely with other team members and subject-matter experts to develop comprehensive, consistent, and engaging scripts. Our partners at ASU and our script editor will give you feedback to refine your work until it's ready for production. Come prepared to collaborate with others effectively and respectfully. Policies of federal and state governments affect us every day, from how much we pay in taxes to the cost of higher education and proper health care. This course aims to provide students knowledge and tools to understand the collective dilemmas that are present in all societies and how systems are built to address these.
