Deadline: 11 October 2022 (sorry for almost missing this)
Tajja Isen, Editor in Chief of Catapult Magazine, is looking for pitches:
I'm a little short on pop-culture pitches; send me something by Tuesday, October 11? Also open to reading more I GIVE UP pitches: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1B1AVxaz0wgdvDXz4Lj4u-3f2k3-gwyUf8duUzCyHYus/edit
A cornerstone series at Catapult magazine, I Give Up is about the things in our lives—jobs, ambitions, relationships, patterns, objects, expectations, and more—that we've let go. Essays in the series explore the full scope of the theme from defeat or surrender, to joy or liberation, and everything in between. Writers are invited to take the prompt in any direction they'd like and to push its limits. For I Give Up, we welcome pitches only. Submissions and completed drafts will be deleted. Before you pitch, we recommend reading the series to get a sense of the tone, style, and critical thinking we expect in an I Give Up essay. In your pitch, specify the thing that is being given up, propose a headline for your essay in the subject of your email, and meet the general pitching expectations set above in this guide.
We pay for all accepted pieces. Our rates start at $200, vary with length and the degree of research proposed, and are always negotiable.
Please send pitches to tajja.isen@catapult.co
