Compensation: $40-50/hour
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a temporary freelance curriculum writer to develop and author virtual secondary ELA courses for designated content areas and grade levels for the dropout/reengagement and alternative education market.
PROJECT/FREELANCER REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in education or directly related field
- Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience with 6-12 curriculum alignment and asynchronous course development
- License/Certification: holds/has held in the last five years an educator’s license in 6-12 English Language Arts.
PROJECT TASKS
- Research, design, develop and write thoughtful, engaging, and easy-to-use secondary lesson plans, learning experiences, student materials, and teacher materials that align to content standards and socio-emotional learning goals
- Select or contribute to the design of videos, interactives, and other multimedia content used in instructional contexts
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and contractors about progress, deadlines, challenges, and solutions.
- Respond constructively to suggestions, feedback, and editing of your writing and curriculum development.
- Follow plans and specifications for all assigned projects, including meeting deadlines and milestones, coordinating with other project workers, and adjusting work based on project needs/priorities
- Design formative and summative assessments, rubrics, and teacher guidance for utilizing assessment practices
FREELANCER QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience as a 6-12 curriculum developer, experience with performance and portfolio assessment, and experience with online learning.
- Experience across print and digital curriculum systems, including common learning management systems and interactive tools.
- Map out, design, and write strategic instructional plans, sequences of lessons, standards-alignment documents, and pacing guides
- Competent with Google Apps, and willing to learn additional technology tools adopted by the organization.
- Three or more years of experience as a writer and editor of student and teacher-facing materials.
- Solid understanding of online learning considerations and educational technology
- (Preferred) Working knowledge of current Georgia, Texas, Ohio and/or Florida curriculum standards
