ABOUT JUNIPER FORMATION:

Juniper Formation is a new church of the United Church of Christ (UCC), a progressive, mainline denomination. We are movement leaders and people in ministry who are prophetically reimagining the Church from the margins. We do this by incubating new ministries, centering the margins of the Church in leadership, and accompanying one another through prophetic discernment and ministry formation.

Juniper Formation is invested in shared liberation and disrupting the cornerstones of oppression; and committed to radical love and justice for the diversity of God’s creation, especially the marginalized and oppressed. Our church is women- and nonbinary-led, multiethnic and antiracist, affirming of undocumented neighbors, celebrating of different abilities, and Open & Affirming of LGBTQ+ individuals and families in the life, leadership, and sacraments of our church.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Juniper Formation Storyteller will create and curate meaningful content that shares the multi-voice stories of Juniper Formation. The Storyteller will then package that content and put it out into the world to engage current relationships and develop new relationships, support spiritual formation, and inspire others to prophetically reimagine the Church.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Listen to the stories of Juniper Formation, help us identify our stories, and help to shape and produce these stories
• Curate Juniper Formation’s diverse, multi-voice community identity
• Create, curate, and promote weekly blogand related website maintenance for SEO, and push blogs out into the world through social media and newsletter
• Create and curate social media, including management of production schedules
• Edit, post, and schedule content on ReFrame app, https://reframe.glideapp.io/, switching to the Buildfire platform in late 2022.
• Edit, post and schedule content release to Life Reframed | Substack
• Research and experiment with new content forms and test different versions to increase engagement. Be curious to learn, and not be afraid to fail as you work within an organizational culture of freedom and experimentation.
• Provide ideas for narrative curation and engagement on juniperformation.org(public information site) and juniperformation.church (Mighty Networks community space)

HOURS & CONTEXT:

10 hours per week, with potential to grow alongside church growth. Hours are flexible, we do not have standard “office hours,” and all our staff work remotely.

Juniper Formation is an entrepreneurial ministry context, which means we prioritize co-creating, rather than adhering to long-established expectations. We seek to co-create ways of being together that deeply integrate our mission, values, and ethos, which may be counter-cultural to unjust and inequitable traditional institutional systems and structures.

COMPENSATION: This is an hourly, contract position. We offer all employees the same pay rate, which is currently $50.83 per hour, with a commitment to an annual cost of living increase. Our pay rate is the same for all employees regardless of position. This pay rate is part of our commitment to transparent, equitable, and just compensation, and to our culture of co-creative, non-hierarchical, team-based structure.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:

Experience in curating social media for an organization/person, including authoring and visual design of content
