Deadline: 30 November 2022
Layla Schlack, Editorial Director at Whetstone Magazine, is looking for pitches:
This month, I'll be reviewing pitches for Whetstone Magazine for all of 2023. I'll respond to most in mid-December, so nothing timely, please. Guidelines/rate info here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ilfSSoZYbU_XNa9slvNRYsMTz1_HqhthNu3xLd5WdCo/edit
If you're unfamiliar with the publication, please take a moment to review the guidelines. I may not have the bandwidth to respond to pitches that are completely different topics than what we cover.
We'll assign a limited number of stories about textiles, how fiber is grown/ harvested/ dyed/ woven, which shares similarities with food. This podcast is a good example:
- and this one: https://www.whetstonemagazine.com/radio/black-material-geographies
This is for Whetstone and not Rasa, so unfortunately, you'll have to sit on your South Asia pitches a little longer! But we welcome international contributors from anywhere.
RATES: All outlets pay a flat fee of $300, but if you’re providing both art and words for print, that number goes up. We may be able to up that before we send out assignments, but that's where we're at now.
