Pitches wanted (rural market/business) | $100 to $300 per article

RuralBusiness.com is seeking proposals from freelance journalists for in-depth articles covering issues impacting rural businesses and markets throughout the U.S.

We need talented journalists who can provide well-written, multi-sourced stories and photography. Supplementary video and/or audio content is a significant plus. The content will be published on the RuralBusiness.com website, which is a platform serving all those involved in the essential work of building rural economies.

PROPOSALS SHOULD INCLUDE:

• A brief biography of yourself, including your rural and journalistic background.
• Two of your favorite writing and photography samples.
• A description of the main topic of the story, such as an individual, business, organization or community. The topic could also be a broader issue, such as a specific industry, trend or policy.
• A description of the intended angle of the story.
• An explanation of how the story will impact a broad range of rural business professionals throughout the country. Impacts may include new knowledge, inspiration, perspective or anything else that would effectively serve this audience.
• An estimated word and photo count and a description of the supplementary video and/or audio content, if applicable.
• An itemized budget that falls in line with the freelancer rate in your community.
