WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A PITCH:
We prefer articles that editorialize on popular health topics using novel, nontraditional methods of analysis. Pitches should be brief, with a single paragraph explaining the story idea.
FEATURES:
We seek timely stories about the practice of medicine, including clinical innovations, health policies and healthcare narratives. We publish a range of features and give wide latitude to subject matter and stylistic presentation.
All pitches should include an angle relevant to physicians and health policy leaders.
NEWS:
We seek contrarian perspectives on widely covered news topics. We do not aspire to break the news. Instead, we want a nuanced analysis of news topics that do not appear elsewhere. Ideally, reporters will have experience writing for a clinical audience and the ability to view research with a skeptical eye. We prioritize articles that include direct sources.
WE LOOK FOR:
- Claims backed by links to research or case studies.
- Relevant, well-researched posts with actionable tips.
We cover topics related to health policy and the individual patient experience. We are always looking for novel insights and unique perspectives that may not appear elsewhere. For an idea of what we are looking for, we recommend reading our articles regularly.
WE AVOID:
- Direct marketing materials
- Infographics made by other businesses
- Syndicated content
Most common mistakes editors see with pitches: Many writers present articles that summarize existing health news coverage. We are not interested in reporting health news. We are interested in studying how health news is covered and analyzed.
LEAD TIME FOR PITCHING:
For news, the lead time could be a day to a week. For features, the lead time could be weeks or longer, depending on the pitch. Best place for a freelancer to break into Daily Remedy: We seek novel perspectives on popular health issues. Ideal articles would integrate a philosophical framework into a health issue that provides a unique but meaningful insight.
Thank you for your cooperation and for your interest. We look forward to reviewing your submissions.
