COMPANY/PUBLICATION: MISSING PERSPECTIVES 

Missing Perspectives is a next-gen media startup that is dedicated to challenging the underrepresentation of young women in the news industry. Since launching in June 2021, we have built an engaged audience in over 100 countries.

Here at Missing Perspectives, we want to elevate local voices and lived experience and make sure young women on the ground are heard. We platform leading young female journalists from diverse backgrounds worldwide and share their unique perspectives and stories with the knowledge that these perspectives are often overlooked or absent from traditional newsrooms.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We have received funding to expand our original news reporting. We are on the lookout for female-identifying reporters to join Missing Perspectives as freelance correspondents.

We want to build relationships with the world’s brightest up-and-coming reporters who will work with us to boost female representation in the news industry, and publish ground-breaking reporting that has a social impact - especially for women.

ABOUT YOU

You are a creative and organised journalist who is able to find compelling stories - particularly those often overlooked by mainstream media - from your community and region to share for our newsroom. You have a passion and curiosity to source and platform authentic local stories that will resonate with our global audience.

OUR PREFERRED CANDIDATES HAVE:

• A broad interest in news and current affairs, including local issues and stories in the public interest.
• An interest in advancing gender equality and women’s rights.
• Degree in journalism, media or equivalent.
• Understanding of fact-checking and journalistic ethics.
• Ability to think and write quickly within tight deadlines.

Our freelance reporters will be paid per article. We are looking for reporters who can write for Missing Perspectives on a regular basis and build a relationship with our small team.

CONFIDENTIAL NOTE: Reports indicate that this opportunity will pay $250-500 AUD for shorter op-eds/articles and around $1,000 for longer investigative articles.. It is recommended that you discuss the rate(s) with the editor prior to commencing work.
