Deadline: 29 November 2022
Justin Duino, Reviews Director at LifeSavvy Media, is looking for writers:
We're hiring U.S.-based freelance reviewers! It's time to get reviews rolling on LifeSavvy, which means we are looking for those interested in reviewing lifestyle, home, kitchen, and garden products. These include everything from towels to coffee machines. I’ll be closing the job ad Tuesday (11/29) evening.
FREELANCE WRITER: LIFESTYLE, HOME AND KITCHEN ACCESSORIES.
LifeSavvy Media is looking for experienced and objective tech reviewers to write about home decor, gardening, cooking, DIY, fitness, accessories, and more on LifeSavvy. We're seeking those who don't just use consumer products, but are immersed in them. If you are constantly researching for the best backpack you can buy, the perfect kitchen appliance for your friends, family, or that teacher you know, or why one type of gardening tool is better for a certain job, then you might be a good fit for us.
We're looking for writers who can fairly evaluate a product using their expert knowledge and explain its pros and cons to readers who might not be as technical. LifeSavvy Media's Reviews Director and Reviews Editor will provide you with products to review, but it’s up to you to become an expert (if you aren’t already) and provide the best advice our readers need.
ABOUT THIS JOB
This is a freelance position, but we're looking for regular contributions. It's up to you when you write and how you work, but at least some overlap with the editorial team is pretty crucial. We love talking about ideas as they come through to make sure we nail the angle. This leads to less time editing later and ensures that everyone is happy with the final product.
At this time, we're looking for those interested in testing and evaluating all types of home goods and accessories. The person hired will be reviewing bags, kitchen appliances, subscription boxes, gardening equipment, and much more.
Pay is based on the type of product being reviewed and the estimated length of the review. All rates will be assigned and agreed to during the pitch process. We will then physically ship a product to you and you'll have a designated amount of time to evaluate the item and write your review. Once completed, we will provide you with a shipping label to send the product back.
Additionally, the below word counts are estimates. There are no hard minimum or maximum word counts. Each review's length will depend on the product.
Basic Review - $100
Examples: Gloves, salt shaker, beach towel
Moderate Review - $175
Examples: Veggie chopper, backpack, shower curtain
Extensive Review - $250
Examples: Airfryer, exercise equipment, luggage
The job is remote, but we're looking for someone in the United States. No exceptions can be made due to the shipping of review units. The team (and editorial staff) are scattered across time zones, so finding a bit of overlap shouldn't be an issue.
REQUIREMENTS
Here's what we need from you:
- Experience. You need to know what you're doing, so at least three years of experience writing about technology is a must. Also, WordPress experience is preferred.
- Attention to detail. It seems like this is always a requirement for most jobs, and this one is no different. You have to be able to pay attention to the little stuff. Details matter.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This position is remote, but that doesn't mean we don't get things done quickly.
- Self-motivated. As this is a freelance position, our editors will do what they can to assist you through the review process, but you're responsible for writing your reviews in a timely manner.
- Equipment. It should probably go without saying, but you'll need your own computer, internet connection, and anything else that may be required for what you want to write about.
- Age: You'll need to be at least 18.
- Location: You must be based in the United States. Due to this requirement, we will have to jump on a video call during the interview process.
In addition to your resume, please share links to three relevant writing samples (not author pages).
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
Here's what we offer:
- Competitive Pay. As stated above, pay starts at $100 per article.
- Regular, on-time payments. We've worked with a lot of freelance writers over the years, and one of the most common complaints is that places don't pay freelancers on time. We get that you have bills to pay and stuff to buy, so we're not about that life. We pay NET 15, so you'll always get paid for your work in a timely manner.
- An awesome place to work. LifeSavvy Media is a great place to work, we'll supply you with fun new gadgets to review, and we’ll support you with great feedback so you can be the best writer around.
