Even Romano, Culture Editor at Men's Health Magazine, is looking for pitches:
I have once again successfully hoarded my out-of-office days for the end of December, and so my fourth year at Men’s Health has come to a close. Please forgive as I clog the feed for a bit to share some things from 2022 I’m proud of:
- In January life was great because the most consistent franchise in horror Scream Movies returned and I did a profile on on its very talented star Jack Quaid: https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a38685999/jack-quaid-scream-interview/
- Charlie Day ventured into the world of romcoms and so I had fun spending time with him to figure out how tough it was to go from eating cat food to flirting with Jenny Slate: https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a39003853/charlie-day-i-want-you-back-interview/
- Talked to Ethan Hawke on Zoom so that was cool: https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a39564573/ethan-hawke-moon-knight-interview/
- Did my first MH cover story on the fantastic Glen Powell. The hardest part about this was seeing Top Gun: Maverick two months early and keeping my mouth shut about how good it was: https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a39877180/top-gun-maverick-glen-powell-interview/
- Did some important journalism like ranking every Sam Raimi movie: https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/g40012684/sam-raimi-movies-ranked/
- Spent an afternoon in midtown with Karl Urban at the end of The Boys Season 3: https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a40544669/karl-urban-the-boys-season-3-interview/
- Got some stories into print! like this essay about the pressures, trials, and tribulations that come along with the fact that there is simply too much TV (with a great cameo from Daniel D'Addario): https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a40783769/too-much-tv/
- The most ambitious thing of the year probably came when we devoted a whole week to horror (MH Horror Week!). I’m not sure I had more fun doing an interview all year than when chatting with A24’s most prolific director of 2022 Ti West about X and Pearl: https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a41725778/ti-west-x-pearl-interview/. (You can find every MH Horror Week story on this landing page right here): https://www.menshealth.com/mh-horror-week-2022/
- And then the year couldn’t end without me talking to someone who expertly played an abhorrent person on HBO’s The White Lotus. Theo James was a fun person to spend an afternoon with and I hope that reflects here: https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a42157023/theo-james-white-lotus-season-2-interview/
And these are all things that just came under my own byline. I had so much fun this year working with people on staff, writers I’ve worked with before, writers I’ve just met, etc., and super excited about what we can do when the engine revs back up for 2023.
