Remote Writer wanted (Asian American affairs, US-China relations) | $40 to $50 per hour

COMPANY/PUBLICATION: COMMITTEE OF 100

Position Description: This is a part-time, Contractor position, expected to work approximately 10-20 hours per week. This position will report directly to Committee of 100’s President. This is a remote position.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Pro-actively identify and develop thought leadership pieces that are relevant to Committee of 100’s dual mission and its position on key issues and topics.
• Work closely with the President on developing written content/ideas to pitch to newspapers, magazines, blogs etc.
• Repurpose content where applicable for broader exposure and different platforms/audiences.
• Engage and build relationships with Universities, Think Tanks, and other AAPI and non-AAPI organizations.
• Assist with content development for social media campaigns, specifically creating copy for the President to share on his own social media channels.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3+ years of professional writing experience
• Experience/interest in writing about Asian American affairs or US-China relations
• Excellent writing skills and the ability to develop a simple thought into a compelling story, integrating facts and evidence from various sources
• Proven track record of working with subject matter experts and incorporating their insights into easily digestible content
• Managing partnerships with external organizations
• Proficiency in MS Word
• Strong communication skills – written, verbal, and interpersonal.
• Ability to work independently and to tease out a distinct story with limited input
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Flexible and able to work on multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, fluid, and entrepreneurial environment

BIG PLUSES:

• Bachelors/Masters related to Asian American Studies, East Asian Studies, Ethnic Studies, Business, International Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related fields.
• Experience with specific social media tools including, but not limited to, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.
• Ability to speak and translate Mandarin.

Hourly rate: $40 - $50 per hour depending on experience
