We'll be looking for new pitches and submissions in the new year, and we're always looking to expand our network of contributing writers email stories@bettertospeak.org!
We publish pieces written by Black folks 18-30 and are primarily...
- Commentary/analysis – your own subject matter expertise, interviews with thought leaders or peers w/ lived experience
- Personal essays – non-fiction pieces based on a topic from your own lived experience

COMPENSATION (FROM THE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES):
With support from Press On’s Southern Movement Media Fund, we will be able to pay young Black writers from $50-200 depending on word count. **Please see our rate card below:**
- Commentary (300-500 words): $50
- Short blog post/article/essay (500-750 words): $75
