Are you an artist of the English language with a strong work ethic? Empire Web Development is looking for an SEO content writer with a creative flair, keen eye for detail, and punctual work style. In this part-time, contract role, you will write an average of 10 articles per month as a crucial cornerstone in a small team of online marketing professionals.

Empire Web Development is a white-label advertising firm based in Asheville, NC, with partners across the Southeast. Our small team of marketing professionals and software engineers make custom web development, software application development, and search engine optimization (SEO) services available for small- to medium-sized businesses. Our scalable services are designed to accommodate clients across a broad range of industries, from tourism to industrial construction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conceive strategic editorial concepts for content articles according to specified keyword targets.
• Research across a variety of niches, and fact-check all relevant information for articles.
• Write original content pieces of 500 to 1000 words, channeling appropriate brand voices, with a flair for storytelling.
• Optimize written work according to SEO best practices, including developing titles, headings, meta descriptions, and keyword placement.
• Copyedit written content for readability, grammar, spelling, syntax, and consistency.
• Meet deadlines with consistency and reliability.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to track and communicate about the progress of work
• Clearly and openly communicate one's ideas and reasoning with a willing manner for cooperation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be able to work in the United States
• Native level of fluency in American English
• (1) year of experience writing and/or editing for a digital advertising agency, online publication, newspaper, corporate marketing position, or equivalent medium or role.
• Basic familiarity with SEO concepts.
• Fluency with GSuite, especially Google Docs and Google Sheets.
• A portfolio of (5) minimum writing samples, such as blog posts, news or magazine articles, written social media content, or creative writing pieces.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or similar area.
• Strong creative writing background.
