Blog Writers wanted (technology) | ~15 cents per word

Capitol Technology University seeks contractual writers to regularly contribute topical, well-researched technology pieces for the university’s online blog. This is a fantastic opportunity for freelance writers within the science/technology niche who want to earn extra income while producing high-quality portfolio pieces that will be published on our university website!

As a Capitol Tech blogger, you’ll get to stand at the forefront of the latest and greatest technological innovations while you spread news and insights about recent developments in artificial intelligence, unmanned systems, cybersecurity, engineering, eSports, critical infrastructure, construction management, computer science, and much, much more.

Writers will be given roughly 4-8 blogs per month, which will be assigned at the beginning of each month with predetermined deadlines. The blogs typically have a 500-word minimum word count unless otherwise communicated.

And while you won’t need to worry about coming up with the topics yourself, (we’ll always have your assignments ready for you at the start of every month) if you’re passionate and knowledgeable about a particular tech-related subject that you think would make an excellent blog, you’re always welcome to share your ideas with us. We might love them as much as you do!

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Strong writing skills and a firm understanding of blog readership (you’ll be writing pieces that will be read by university professors, doctoral candidates, prospective students, government agency partners, and general members of a well-respected university community, so appropriate levels of professionalism and sophistication are expected)
• Working knowledge of APA style
• Reliability and willingness to commit to a monthly editorial schedule
• Ability to meet strict content deadlines
• Ability to follow directions and make appropriate content edits where indicated
• Strong research skills and excellent ability to identify numerous reliable, high-quality sources for each piece
• A background in a technology/science field is very highly preferred for this role

The person in this role will produce blog posts around 500 words and you will coordinate your project deliverables with our Assistant Director of Communications.
