Black Film Space is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving the careers of black filmmakers. Our mission is to provide skill-enhancing opportunities, community building experiences and knowledge on navigating the film industry for people of African descent. We host events that include film screenings, panels, networking mixers, professional development workshops, skill sharing, and open forums.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Black Film Space is in need of a Grant Writer who will fully execute three grant applications per month for a growing non profit organization during the first 3-4 months of 2023. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working independently and will be strategic in identifying grants that are applicable to the needs of our organization.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION

Hours are flexible. We expect you to apply for five grants for $50,000 or more at least five times a month for two months. Rate is $600 per application.

KEY DUTIES

• Assist with identifying relevant grants for our organization with help of our Sponsorship/grants assistant
• Gather materials, generate and embellish compelling grant applications per approval of Executive directors
• Submit grant applications on behalf of Black Film Space with proof of submission
• Provide updates to Executive Directors via monthly team meeting

EXPERIENCE

Experience generating and submitting grant applications for non profit organizations, preferably an institution related to the arts and/or education.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience writing grants for a non profit organization
• Track record of successful results obtaining funding for non profit organizations
• Understanding of non profit development
• Excellent written and verbal communication communication abilities
• Interest in supporting underrepresented professionals in the film or the entertainment industry
