Remote Content Writer wanted (food, farms, agriculture, etc.) | $35 to $45 per hour (freelance)

COMPANY/PUBLICATION: THE COMMON MARKET

The Common Market is a nonprofit regional food distribution that connects communities and institutions to good food from sustainable family farms. We are seeking a Freelance Content Writer to aid in storytelling and composing engaging content (for website, social media, blogs, case studies) that attracts and educates partners within the local food space.

Our audiences are based throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast (metro Atlanta), Texas (Greater Houston), and the Great Lakes (Chicago) regions. But, this role can be conducted remotely.

CONTENT THEMES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Local food systems
• Local farms
• Food access
• Food as medicine
• Regenerative agriculture
• Corporate Social Responsibility

Please be ready to share samples of your work or portfolio of your published articles.

This hourly contractor will report directly to our Communications Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated interviewing, research, and writing experience, including telling a story concisely and compellingly. Writing about food systems and/or themes listed above is preferred.
• Commitment to accuracy and consistency.
• Ability to collaborate with staff on story development and editing. Submit work to Communications Director for input and approval.
• Coordinate with Marketing and Design to illustrate articles.
• Identify gaps in our content and recommend new topics.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write clear, engaging copy for website landing pages (~7-10 pages), blogs including headlines (~4/month), and case studies (~4/year).
• Compose 1-2 social media posts for LinkedIn to accompany each blog story.
