THE OPPORTUNITY

Donut Media’s Past Gas podcast is looking for freelance writers to add to our growing repertoire. Past Gas is an automotive history podcast with 7.6 million yearly downloads (2022) and over 2 million listeners.

This role is project-based. The writer will be assigned a topic and angle to take, and will be expected to produce an outline within two weeks, with a 7-9 page draft (standard Google Docs settings) turned in for notes the following week. The second draft will be expected a week later, with all producer notes implemented. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to break into automotive journalism or the podcast industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with Donut’s Senior Podcast Producer to craft an engaging, research-based script for Past Gas, a top-rated automotive history podcast.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must submit resume + relevant writing sample
• Experience writing research-based stories
• The ability to adhere to firm deadlines
• Strong interest in car culture, past and present, as well as a willingness to cover a wide range of stories

PAY

$750 an episode – includes an outline and two drafts of a script
