Remote Marketing Content Writer wanted (heavy industry) | $55 to $75 per hour (freelance)

Red Mallard is looking for an experienced business-to-business marketing content writer with experience writing for businesses in heavy industry. Topics we cover for clients include manufacturing processes, metallurgy, industrial equipment supply, pumps, and logistics. This is a fully remote, independent contractor position.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Content Writers work with our in-house client managers, content strategists, and editors to develop and execute content plans in accordance with client requirements. Projects vary by client and the writer’s capacity, but typically include drafting website content and recurring blog posts, special projects like white papers and sales sheets, and writing ad copy. Most types of content also need email copy and social media posts. As writers get familiar with a client, they may also have the opportunity to develop content calendars.

In connection with their work Content Writers typically do research and may conduct interviews. We typically pay project rates with the expectation that our writers have mastered the art of efficiently crafting marketing copy, even on topics they know nothing about.

Before beginning work on a client's projects candidates may be asked to complete a paid article for the Red Mallard blog so we can get to know your style. Candidates who meet our quality standards will be asked to sign a standard contract and will be assigned work under task orders with varying duties and project lengths. Successful writers typically are offered additional work as new projects arise.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 3 years of experience writing content for B2B companies.
• Commitment to high editorial standards.
• Demonstrated aptitude for interviewing subject matter experts.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn to write effectively about niche industries.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to meet regular deadlines.
• Willingness to collaborate and incorporate editorial feedback into future work.
• Ability to work independently.
• Good understanding of how to efficiently conduct research and avoid plagiarism while producing work that is suitable for content marketing purposes.

IDEAL EXTRAS:

• Understanding of SEO.
• Familiarity with the editorial expectations for the full spectrum of content marketing, including social media and email.
• Professional experience other than as a writer. You can step into the shoes of the client or the client’s customer, and/or writing is a second career.
