Do you want to write for GTI? Submissions are currently open for the Global Taiwan Brief, our bi-weekly publication. For more information and submission details, see below.
SUBMIT AN ARTICLE TO THE GLOBAL TAIWAN BRIEF
GTI’s Global Taiwan Brief focuses on current events and policy analysis. We have a broad scope and cover a wide range of topics as long as they are related to Taiwan policy.
The Global Taiwan Brief (GTB) invites researchers to submit their original unpublished articles that focus on current events and policy analysis related to Taiwan. GTB is a go-to source for timely and interesting analysis as well as informed opinions on all matters related to Taiwan policy. If you are interested in submitting an article or pitching your ideas to us, please read the instructions below. Note that a successful pitch does not guarantee publication.
The length of the article should be around 1,500 words. If your article is selected, the Global Taiwan Institute will provide an honorarium of USD $200 per article, the standard rate for guest contributors.
Please ensure your submission adheres to the following guidelines:
- All submissions must be the writer’s original work (articles may be co-authored) and must not have been published anywhere else.
- For online citations, please insert hyperlinks directly in the text. If you are citing from journal articles, books, and other printed publications, follow the Chicago Style for endnotes.
- For GTI-specific writing style, please refer to our Publication Style Guide.
- At the end of each article, authors are expected to include The Main Point, summarizing the article’s key takeaway in one or two sentences.
- Articles are expected to be fact-based and thoroughly cited.
- Selected articles may be translated into Mandarin-Chinese and shared with our partners (i.e., 今周刊) for publication on their platforms.
- When submitting, kindly provide your affiliation and a brief biography (2–3 lines).
You will be contacted within 10 working days from the date of final submission if your article is selected for publication. As for pitches for a GTB topic, a staff member will get back to you as soon as possible.
If you are interested or know someone who would be interested in contributing to our publication, please submit your article as a Word document — rather than a PDF — to submission@globaltaiwan.org with the subject line “[Submission] – Author name – Article name”. Similarly, please submit your pitches to submission@globaltaiwan.org with the subject line “[Pitch] – Author name”.
