You will be reporting to the Art & Pop Culture Editor at Artnet News, writing short-form articles about the places where art intersects with technology, archeology/world culture, and pop culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Pitch news article ideas to the Art & Pop Culture Editor every morning based on new developments and write resulting articles (2 per day)
• Focus on stories where art intersects with technology, archeology/world culture, and pop culture that have wide relevance to a broad readership
• Monitor developments on the above beats, breaking news on both big and incremental advancements/changes
• Pitch in on other news coverage as needed
• Assist with Artnet News’s art fair, auction, biennial, and event coverage as needed
• Contribute to crowdsourced and team-reported articles
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with a Rolodex of sources to produce exclusive articles.
• Write at least 2 news posts (350-700-word) per day
• Write 1 reported feature story (700-1,200 word+) per week
• Collaborate with News editors, the social media department, and the multimedia department to creating content, events, and activations relating to the intersection of art & technology

REQUIREMENTS

• 3-5 years of journalistic experience
• Demonstrated ability to write about the art and tech intersection on a world-class level
• Familiarity with the art world, art history, and the art market
• Ability to report, write, and file clean, accurate, and engaging copy on tight deadlines
• Collegial demeanor and ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with team of fellow world-class journalists

Salary Description: $200-$350/day, monthly retainer
