For this year's Pride month, TheBody is focusing on LGBTQ+ joy. As Andrew Spieldenner recently shared in an interview, "Historically, the gay movement has been about sex. In so many countries, they're not criminalizing love—they're criminalizing sex."

With all of the anti-LGBTQ legislation—and continued hate and discrimination—we're seeing in the U.S. and much of the world, it's clear that for some, the goal is to wipe us out of existence. For Pride this year, TheBody is saying loudly and clearly, "Not today! We will fight for our right to feel pleasure, thrive, and revel!" Because joy is resistance and proof that we are here. (Cue Beyonce's "I Was Here.')

With that in mind, we'd like to invite you to celebrate the history and the milestones of the LGBTQ community by pitching stories that focus on queer joy and LGBTQ thriving. More than simply acknowledging Pride season, we're calling this "THRIVE Season." If you're not clear about what that means in terms of generating a pitch, start off by thinking about expressions of LGBTQ joy and the importance of celebrating Pride month, and that will steer you in the correct direction.
