Pitches wanted (Black indigeneity, technology, society) | $1,000 to $4,000 per article
Added 2023-06-06 17:41:18 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: LOGIC(S)
Deadline: 30 June 2023
J. Khadijah Abdurahman, Editor in Chief of Logic(s) Magazine, is looking for pitches:
Black folks in African Studies or Black Studies: I want to publish you. Email us at editors at logicmag dot io
I am especially interested in those thinking through Black African indigeneity, queer and trans life on the continent (including non-English based conceptions of gender and sexuality that use other keywords).
We pay ~$1000-4000 USD depending on length. We publish poetry, visual essays, speculative fiction, long read non-fiction essays, shorter essays ~1200 words and interviews (interviewees receive $1000 USD).
I am actively considering those reaching directly out to us before the end of June. Beyond that cut off, we can consider submissions for the third issue of the year.
The editorial note for the current issue will give you a sense of the breadth we’re willing to publish. The second issue will have a policy focus for feature length pieces but otherwise we’re taking anything that broadly fits into the vision of the relaunch as Logic(s).
My biggest advice for pitches is to be concrete, make sure it’s a story not just a series of ideas. Of course you can think about big theoretical concepts but this works best when applied to a grounded story, i.e., who, what, when, why, where.
