Added 2023-06-07 18:53:31 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: CNN'S BEYOND THE BINARY
Deadline: 15 June 2023
Ankur Paliwal, Guest Editor at CNN, is looking for pitches:
I am now looking for pitches from Africa for "Beyond the Binary", a short series of stories I am editing/producing for CNN's As Equals project.
The series will have deeply reported, character led stories documenting what it means to live as an LGBTQI+ person in the global south, and how do these identities interact with broader systems such as healthcare, housing, migration, education and employment.
These stories would be about 2,000 words long. The selected journalists will be paid a day rate of US$350. The number of days can be figured out based on the complexity of the story. The journalists should be able to report and write these stories between June and July.
Journalists from the LGBTQIA+ community will be preferred. Email your pitches to ankur.paliwal@wmcontractor.com with a subject like "Beyond the Binary Pitch-Africa" by 15th June. But before you pitch, please take a look at As Equals FAQs:
