With AI tools like ChatGPT making waves in creative industries, The Writer’s Chronicle is seeking essays on the impact of AI on writing and teaching.
How is AI affecting pedagogy in the creative writing classroom? How are editors screening for AI-generated work? (Are they? Should they?) Can writers use AI in creative ways to produce something entirely new?
If you want to share your take on the peril and potential of AI with us, please submit an essay between 1,000–4,000 words.
WHAT WE PAY
We buy first rights for all pieces accepted for publication. We pay $18 per 100 words for accepted pieces. Authors are paid upon publication.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
Please follow The Chicago Manual of Style and acknowledge your sources by using endnotes. Do not use MLA. Previously published works will not be accepted.
PERMISSIONS
If you quote a poem, song, or short-short story in its entirety, it is your responsibility to secure and pay for that permission. We recommend that you limit quotes to fair use and avoid quoting whole works, as many trade publishers charge high fees for permissions.
