Seeking freelance journalists, travel writers, essayists, and photographers
Redwoods is the magazine of Save the Redwoods League, a nonprofit focused on protecting and restoring redwood forests and connecting people with California coast redwood and giant sequoia forests.
We seek freelance journalists, travel writers, and essayists and welcome carefully considered pitches for articles, travel features, and essays, including our Community Voices section, which features diverse perspectives on redwood forests.
We also seek freelance photographers for photo features throughout the California coast redwood and giant sequoia ranges.
We prefer applicants based in Northern California or near the giant sequoia range in the Sierra Nevada.
Save the Redwoods League is an equal-opportunity employer. We do not consider race, religion, creed, color, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status or disability. We strongly encourage candidates from marginalized communities to apply, including Black people, Indigenous people, people of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people, and members of other marginalized communities to reflect the diversity of California through the voices and perspectives in Redwoods magazine.
