Pitches wanted (wedding) | 50 cents to $1 per word

COMPANY/PUBLICATION: NEW JERSEY BRIDE

Calling all freelance writers. I’m the editor of New Jersey Bride magazine. I’m seeking pitches for our next print issue and beyond.

WEDDING-RELATED ADVICE PITCHES:

Along the wedding planning journey, there are many decisions to make. And some of those are tough calls. I’m seeking pitches for advice articles, explainers, guides, personal essays and how-to's (ex: how did you, or a couple you know that would be willing to be interviewed, navigate: Losing a family member or friend very close to the wedding. Cutting someone out of the wedding party. Going against societal traditions, such as a bride choosing to dance with her mom instead of her dad. Planning a joint bachelor/bachelorette party. Managing drama, relationships, personalities in the wedding party. Balancing your wedding with the responsibility that comes with being in other wedding parties, etc.)

Also accepting pitches about NJ wedding-related companies as well as NJ wedding-related events like a really amazing themed bridal shower or a really unique vendor at a wedding.

GUIDELINES:

• Past bridal publication experience not required.
• Focused on publishing NJ story angles (couple or expert being interviewed must be from NJ, pitch must be about an NJ experience, etc). Exceptions may be considered for personal essays.
• Rate: $.50-$1 per word, depending on type of article and experience.
• Full articles will not be accepted.
• Brief, thoughtful pitches only along with a resume and 2 clips.
• Please allow a few weeks for a response.
