Proposal Writer wanted | $550 to $650 per day (freelance)

Global Health Visions (GHV) is seeking a freelance proposal writing consultant to join our team. The proposal writer’s responsibilities will include gathering information from and collaborating with the technical team leads at GHV to develop, edit, format, and finalize proposals for submission.

A successful candidate for this role should have several years of professional proposal writing experience, excellent written and oral communication skills, a track record of successful (funded) proposals, and be able to work efficiently and effectively, meeting challenging but reasonable deadlines and delivering top-notch proposals aligned with GHV standards, policies, and templates within an agreed-upon range of billable hours. In this role, the proposal writer will work closely with a designated GHV team.

SPECIFIC COMPONENTS OF THE WORK INCLUDE:

• Gathering Input: Check in with the GHV team and technical team representatives to map out a process and timeline for the development of the proposal.
• Conduct Research: Conduct research on the entity/organization and/or the project and gather and analyze information and background materials needed to develop the proposal.
• Articulate Approach: Partner with GHV team to translate our approach to delivering outcomes into language appropriate for the proposal and audience. Ensure GHV team is clearly able to describe our unique strengths and value. This may also involve drafting language to include in proposals that speaks to GHV’s value add as well as templated proposal components.
• Proposal Writing: Utilize strong writing skills to develop key proposals concisely and eloquently within designated timelines.

REQUIRED SKILLS

BACKGROUND/EXPERTISE

• Bachelor's degree or higher
• 6+ years of proven experience as a professional proposal writer in the social sector
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Exceptional writing and communication (written and spoken) skills; ability to adapt communications for different, specific audiences and translate technical language as needed.
• Ability to pull together information from multiple sources into a concise and clear proposal

OWNERSHIP AND INDEPENDENCE

• Must work efficiently and deliver projects under short deadlines, developing outstanding proposals that require minimal modification (once the consultant is familiar with GHV and our standards and templates).
• Ability to coordinate with others on the GHV team, be efficient with time, provide feedback if needed, and execute according to the timeline.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance. Must be highly organized, resourceful, self-motivated, project confident, detail- and deadline-oriented, flexible in approach and process, and adept at multi-tasking and prioritizing.

TECHNOLOGY

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and platforms required with an ability to ensure proposals are visually appealing.

COMPENSATION, TIME REQUIREMENT, AND LOCATION

• Daily rate of $550-$650, depending on experience
• Flexible hours per week depending on proposal needs; ideally, looking for a freelance proposal writer who can support on an as-needed basis.
• The consultant will work from their own location, with the willingness to collaborate across time zones with GHV colleagues.
