Here's the open call for pitches for our early autumn return issue!

We're still the same online publication dedicated to topics on sound, hearing, listening, music, culture, art, theory, and practice. Instead of posing an explicit theme for this issue, we're keeping this call open and want to hear what you've been thinking about recently.

Our editorial remains dedicated, as always, to holding space for long-form, all-out, far-flung, disregulated, honed-in, or otherwise passionate, critical and creative projects that draw out the critique resistance, counter/de/re-contextualizing, and possibility brought forth by sound, music, performance, and writing.

We're not necessarily academic though, and we don't have any requirements for your byline.

We can host sound, video, image and writing-based projects on our WordPress site and we offer an honorarium of $100 for each piece we publish.

Please email your pitches to: thesoapear@gmail.com by July 15th with a brief description of the project you are proposing.

• Learn more about the publication: Soap Ear is an online publication dedicated to subjects of sound, hearing, listening, music, culture, art, theory, and practice. It looks to experimental music for new ways to both organize and interpret sound, thereby expanding the boundaries of what music is. As something that reflects and accompanies the motions of culture, Soap Ear also hears music as inherently political. More information here.
