Davide Mastracci, Opinion Editor at The Maple, is looking for pitches:
Alex Cosh and I are launching a new series The Maple called MISSED INFORMATION. The series is dedicated to critiquing and complicating media, government and security narratives about “foreign interference” in Canada, building on our last work.
The first article in the series, my piece on how the disinformation craze is tuning what’s left of journalism, will be released early next week: https://www.readthemaple.com/the-disinformation-craze-is-ruining-whats-left-of-journalism/
After that, there’s much more to come, including analysis, interviews, investigations and hopefully a debate.
This series will build on our past work, including criticism of media narratives on supposed Chinese election interference, articles critiquing the smearing of anti-war activists as foreign agents, reporting on Canadian government activities abroad and more.
We will be accepting unsolicited pitches from freelancers for the series, in both the news and opinion sections. If you’re interested, check out our pitching guidelines.
