Pitches wanted (safari stories) | $200 per article

Matador is looking for safari stories with a unique twist or hook.

Have you recently gone on a unique safari beyond the average "African Big Five?" We want pitches from freelance writers about your safari experiences, be it in South Africa, Norway, or anywhere in between. We're particularly interested in stories about ways to connect with a place/people/culture while on safari, rather than stories about Western-style luxury lodges and the standard tourist trail.

"Safaris" can be any activity where wildlife watching is the primary goal. Matador has covered safaris in places like Nebraska and Canada; don't feel limited to just Africa (though we're open to all locations).

NOTE: Please search MatadorNetwork.com in advance to make sure we haven't covered the topic you're proposing. On average, at least half of the pitches we receive are topics we've already covered. If you're proposing to replace a current article, please specifically mention that in your pitch (and be sure to justify why you could do it better).
