Tulika Bose, Senior Multimedia Editor, is looking for audio pitches:
Still commissioning for Science, Quickly! But before that, here’s what I look for in a great audio pitch for Scientific American.
1. Is the pitch novel or surprising? Why should we care about it?
2. Does the pitch have impact? Are people / communities / the environment being affected? Or, is this a breakthrough discovery?
3. Are you planning on using audio elements to really get the piece to shine? How? If applicable — do you have scenes in mind?
4. How do you plan on leading us into the piece?
5. Do you have interviews you’re really excited about?
6. How are you planning on telling this story? Q+A? Feature?
We’ve greenlit some fantastic pieces I’m really thrilled about — ranging from the impacts of the newest MDMA research, to the science of queer animals, to gaming + AI. My DMs are open!
Lastly — if you’re new to pods, that’s ok! I’ve worked with some fantastic print reporters who are now stellar pod hosts.
