Reporting Fellow wanted (housing) | ~$875 to $1,750 per article

Shelterforce is hiring a reporting fellow to cover a range of housing-related news stories. (See our coverage here.) This is a contract position, starting at six months, renewable for longer terms.

The reporting fellow will work closely with Shelterforce’s editor and managing editor to discuss and develop story ideas and pitches. The reporter will be responsible for writing one (1) to two (2) articles (approximately 1,500-2,500 words) every month. Topics will primarily be assigned, but fellows will have the opportunity to develop their own story ideas.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

• Will have previous news reporting experience.
• Can produce multi-source analytic articles (as opposed to just straight news) that are well organized and accessible.
• Have a keen interest in housing issues.
• Works well remotely.

Compensation is $1,750/month for the duration of the contract.
