COMPANY INFORMATION:
Liz Loomis Public Affairs (LLPA) provides strategic communication services for local governments, including fire and hospital districts, cities, and public utilities. Our business helps local governments communicate more effectively with taxpayers and voters to pass ballot measures for needed revenue or organizational changes. We also provide general and crisis communication services for clients.
JOB PURPOSE:
The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, a firm grasp of English grammar, attention to detail and background/familiarity in how local government and financing works. As a content writer, you will work with our communications director to write press releases, video scripts, newsletter articles, social media posts, and other assigned content for our clients.
COMPETENCY PROFILE:
Adaptability-Can adjust to changing priorities and excellent multitasker.
Grammar and Vocabulary - Produces clean copy (familiar with AP Style) and writes simply and concisely for the appropriate audience and platform.
Attention to Detail – Ensures each clients’ key messages are consistently communicated, edits made per instruction and projects completed.
Time Management and Prioritization- Meets deadlines and delivers projects on time and communicates with supervisor when assistance/clarification is needed or if a deadline cannot be met.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Write press releases, video scripts, newsletter articles and social media posts for clients seeking voter-approval for ballot measures.
Consistently communicates clients’ key messages within content.
Meet deadlines/resolve deadline concerns in a timely manner.
Display strong editorial judgement about wording, punctuation, and style.
QUALIFICATIONS:
10 years of related experience in journalism, public affairs or public relations.
Excellent writing and editing skills.
Familiarity with tax ballot measures, local government, and financing
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism/Public Relations, or Communications
Strong interpersonal skills.
Organized and meets deadlines.
