Sherronda J. Brown, Editor in Chief of Scalawag, is looking for pitches:

We are excited to announce that we are now accepting pitches for our October series, Haints of the Black South. This is a project curated by our Editor-in-Chief, Sherronda Brown.

THE THEME:

Personal, historical, and spatial hauntings connected to and within the Black South.

WHAT WE WANT:

• regional stories of haints and hauntings
• critical and personal essays,
• poetry
• short fiction
• photography, video, and other multimedia projects

With Haints of the Black South, Sherronda Brown wants to explore the things that still haunt the South, both in a literal and figurative sense. We're accepting pitches at this link until September 28th.

Rate with depend on the type of submission (art, poetry, essay, etc.), but it will range from $500 to $1200.
