Contributors wanted (Muslims living in the west) | 10+ cents per word

The Muslim Monthly is a newly launching, non-partisan but not centrist, monthly digital magazine that will cover political, social, cultural and religious issues from the perspective of Muslims living in the west — whether in the United States, Canada or Europe.

For our first issue, planned to launch in early 2024, we are looking for contributors. This is a contract role. We are looking for both regular contributors, who will feature in monthly issues, or one-time writers.

We are looking for early career journalists, hoping to give a chance to younger journalists hoping to make a name for themselves, and find an outlet to share their perspectives. Because we are a new publication with limited funding, we are offering a rate of 10 cents per word on 1,000 word articles ($100). We hope that, once we get off the ground, these rates will increase. However, this is all we can offer for now.

We are looking for reported pieces, opinion and perspectives. Five articles are planned for the first issue, and subsequent monthly issues will feature between five to 10 pieces.

Deadline for writers who would like to contribute to 1st issue is January 1! However, we are open to pitches and inquiries whenever!
