Christopher Zara, Senior Editor (News) at Fast Company, is looking for writers/reporters:
We are looking for freelance writers and reporters to cover fast-developing news stories on a range of topics related to business, technology, workplace culture, and innovation. We’re seeking creative thinkers and curious news junkies who can quickly identify important stories in the Fast Company universe, crystallize the main ideas behind them, and turn them around quickly.
Ideal candidates will be available to contribute one to three short news-driven stories per week (either through pitches that you formulate yourself or assignments from one of our news editors) and will have experience covering breaking news on one or more of the topics we obsess over. The hours are flexible, but writers would mostly be needed in the mornings or afternoons on weekdays. Most of our freelance writers work remotely.
Pay rate: $300 per news story, usually 250 – 400 words.
