Personal essays wanted (mental wellbeing, grief, loneliness, etc.) | $200+ per article
Added 2023-10-23 15:50:23 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: NEW YORK TIMES WELL
Patia Braithwaite, Senior Editor for New York Times Well, is looking for submissions:
I am seeking thoughtful personal essays on topics like mental wellbeing, aches and pains, grief, loneliness and connection, chronic illness, disability, aging and more — true stories that explore health and wellness. Some essays might include reporting while others will rely only on personal narrative. These aren’t op-eds with a strong point of view; they point to moments that so many of us experience, even if they’re overlooked or rarely discussed...It’s hard to capture the spirit of an essay in a pitch, so we’re only considering full drafts at this time. Full submission guidelines.
CONFIDENTIAL NOTE: Reports indicate that New York Times pays $200+ per article. It is recommended that you discuss the rate(s) with the editor upon the acceptance of your pitch.
