Erika Hobbs, Editor at Growing Community Media, is looking for writers:

Illinois journalists: I'm looking for local news writers to help fill in gaps through January 3. I'm looking for holiday content, fun features, profiles in Oak Park, Austin, Brookfield, River Forest, Forest Park and Riverside only. Message me at erika@growingcommunitymedia.org.

Rates depend on the story. They tend to be light lifts at $125 and up.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST: Unless otherwise stated, include (1) a cover letter explaining how you meet the requirements or why you are the right fit for the job; (2) a one-paragraph summary of your relevant experience, credentials and publication credits; (3) your strongest clips or links to published work; and (4) a resume detailing your writing experience.

Growing Community Media NFP (GCM) produces four independent local publications, online and in print, across seven communities on the west side of Chicago and in its west suburbs. Each publication reports deeply from within its own community, at a granular level unavailable elsewhere in the local media landscape. GCM’s dedicated newsroom staff produces insightful hyperlocal coverage of each of our seven communities 52 weeks per year. More information here.
