Part Time: non-exempt salary position
Salary Range: $50 - 75 per hour (depending on experience) 10- 20 hours weekly
Location: In person or Remote; New York State preferred. If NYC, we’d like you to spend 4 days a month at the Farm. During the season, there could be more events, workshop attendance with donors.

As a growing 501c3 education and innovation hub and 66-acre certified organic farm founded in 2020, our goal is to diversify our funding streams in 2024. As our development and grant writing expert, you will be pivotal in securing grants and developing relationships that will provide the necessary funds to scale our science and education projects.
Utilizing your grant writing and major donor expertise and track record of success, you will with closely with the program staff and Executive Director to help us advance our mission to share knowledge through our “Outdoor Classroom” nature-based hands-on education program for children and adults, and combat food insecurity and climate change through our carbon sequestration programs and our farm-based climate adaptation projects. Together, we can make a significant impact in achieving our ambitious goal of educating the community, sharing traditional knowledge, raising organic food and restoring the planet's natural balance. This is a part-time opportunity with the potential to develop into a full-time position.

We are a 66 acre non-profit organic farm & creative hub. Our mission is simple, but a deep dedication to our core value system drives us to thoughtfully address the complex challenges facing both farmers and creators in today’s world.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Familiarity with the values and benefits of carbon sequestration, soil health, organic farming and community based environmental education articulating these in response to novel prompts within grant application.
- Identify, research, and align grant opportunities from federal, state, regional and community government agencies and philanthropic organizations to secure funding for our education, workshops and climate science projects through compelling proposals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and manage comprehensive information, including grant application data, status, and reporting deadlines.
- Manage end-to-end application process: working with ED and program team to strategize on framing, be the primary author of content that is on message and does not require extensive copy editing, and project manage submission.
- Conduct thorough research on each grant program's requirements, guidelines, and criteria.
- Adhere to strict timelines to ensure timely submission of grant applications.
- Monitor and track grant progress, follow-up requirements, and reporting obligations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated ability to secure grants through exceptional writing and editing skills, with a preferred focus on farm related carbon sequestration (biochar, soil, cover crops) , environmental science, community based hands on education (Outdoor Classroom) or climate change-related grants
- Strong research skills to identify relevant grant opportunities and gather requisite data
- Attention to detail and accuracy in organizing and compiling grant application materials
- Familiarity with grant application guidelines, eligibility requirements, and reporting procedures
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines effectively
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work with diverse stakeholders in a team environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with the government and philanthropic funding landscape for environmental or nature-based projects. Major donor or individual fundraising experience also preferred.
- Experience securing grants supporting activities in New York State
