In 2024, we will be launching Illustration Matters: a series of ten online articles that explore the illustration making an impact on our world today.
We are looking for experienced writers who specialise in illustration, design and/or contemporary culture who will each produce three articles.
Each article will be published in two formats:
- a longform article (1,000 words and 15 high resolution images and/or videos) via our website (https://www.qbcentre.org.uk/) (articles published monthly from May 2024)
- an image-led story via Google Arts and Culture (https://artsandculture.google.com/) (15 high resolution images and/or videos each with up to 50-word captions)
and promoted via our social media channels.
Content writers will develop engaging themes for their articles across three categories - illustration for information, resistance and play - working with our Artistic Director who will edit the series.
With a global perspective, each article will dive into a specific and surprising subject, incorporating the voices of illustrators making an impact today, while referring to their place in illustration’s history.
Each article will cover a subject that is not widely known about with depth, complied in an engaging and accessible style for people without an existing interest in illustration. As well as writing copy, content writers will undertake relevant picture research, sourcing high quality images or videos for which rights must be available and can be secured by our Head of Content and Communications.
