Dismantled is a new quarterly publication unpacking the key themes underneath social struggles, prioritizing perspectives rooted in social movements and liberatory transformation. Our mission is to create cross-cultural, multigenerational, and multidisciplinary conversations for our collective liberation.

We’re accepting pitches for our inaugural issue on VIOLENCE. What is violence? What is its role in our societies, our states, and our movements? How do we recognize, suffer, plan, or perpetuate violence, and how does it alter our relationships with our communities and ourselves?

We’re interested in submissions grappling with issues including (and not limited to):

abolition, borders, bulletproof backpacks, climate denialism, death flights, dictatorship, Fanon, incarceration, insurrection(s), intergenerational trauma, just war, October 7, organized abandonment, “outside agitators,” peaceful protest, policing, propaganda of the deed, retributional justice, revolution, safe spaces, Super Bowl Air Force flyovers, “superpredators."

SUBMISSIONS CAN INCLUDE:

Longform essays, including personal essays, reported articles, interviews with activists or cultural workers (800-1,200 words) $500

Shortform articles, including book and movie reviews, personal testimonies, and short essays (400-500 words) $250

Visual art, video interviews or art, and songs or audio recordings with rates to be negotiated, generally $300

We are accepting pitches through January 31, 2023. We will respond to pitches in early February and hope to receive submissions by the end of February 2024.
