Deadline: 1 February 2024
Sarah Hunt, Managing Editor at Between The Lines, is looking for a writer:
We are seeking a queer BIPOC writer for a specific, relatively urgent feature article focused on a Detroit-based, Black-led nonprofit serving the local LGBTQ+ community. We can offer a competitive rate ($125 or more, depending on scope) for this straightforward, 1,000(ish) word article, and we're hoping this assignment will lead to more. Priority given to Michigan-based writers, but please don't hesitate to respond if you're comfortable and willing to reach out to Michigan-based contacts, especially if you're familiar with Detroit.
See our pitching guidelines at pridesource.com/pitch-a-story. Some experience is preferred, but we do sometimes accept new writers who can provide some kind of writing sample. Email sarah@pridesource.com with two links to a news or feature story. Unpublished writers could point us to a blog or attach a Word file or link to a Google Doc. Include "Queer BIPOC Writer Needed for Feature Article" in the subject line.
