As a Testing Writer at BestReviews, you will be testing and reviewing the top products currently on the market. The BestReviews Testing Lab is looking for experienced product-experts who can provide full-service testing for a number of products at one time. Throughout the testing process you will be expected to evaluate product specs with technical competency, meticulously comb through manuals, and then complete thorough testing notes that don't leave anything behind. Testing products will be sent to you with the expectation that you will test these products in your own home. You will be responsible for coordinating/executing logistics with the Testing Lab.

Testing Writers will also be subject-matter experts in the product reviewing space. After completing testing, you will write buying guides, comparison pieces, in-depth product reviews and feature articles over the weeks following. Writing assignments will vary in length and topic, but will all be relevant to the testing you’ve completed with the Testing Lab as well as any required outside research. Testing Writers will coordinate assignments with an editorial team and will be expected to turn around content within a clear timeframe.

BestReviews is currently hiring for tester-writers in the following specialties.

• Personal care
• Yard
• Pets
• Camera
• Home
• Outdoors

Some of these specialities are required on a seasonal basis. For seasonal topics, expectations on assignment frequency will be laid out in advance. Some months will have more opportunity than others. There will also be opportunities to contribute over major shopping periods like Prime Day and Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

The Testing Writer role is a remote, per-project, part-time contract position. Rates tend to be around $225 per product tested and writing ranges from $120-$225 per article.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Experience in testing and reviewing products in their speciality
• Flexibility to test and write about products outside their speciality
• Ability to interpret and apply SEO recommendations to writing projects
• Research skills, including interpretation of Testing Lab findings
• Knowledge of current market trends and news
• Experience using various content management systems (e.g. WordPress), Microsoft Suite and Google Suite
• A fine eye for following in-house style and familiarity AP stylebook
• Ability to work remotely communicating via Slack, Zoom and email
