Transacted was founded by a former private equity investor and is committed to producing accessible, high-quality private markets editorial content and original reporting.

We think the market is missing a dedicated publication that can provide the coverage expected from industry readers without resorting to a paywall. We also believe that private markets can be incredibly exciting, dynamic, and entertaining if we do our job properly—readers should engage with our work both because they enjoy it and because it helps them get an edge.

Alongside its digital media operations, Transacted is an early-stage fintech startup building a specialized analytics platform for institutional private markets investors. We’re working with select private equity and investment banking firms to refine the product ahead of a Q2 2024 launch. We’ve received backing from AI2, a start-up accelerator affiliated with The Allen Institute for AI, and we hope to begin raising our seed round this summer.

WHAT WE BRING

• The opportunity to join the team as the first dedicated news professional: immediate responsibility, independence, and a chance to help build the organization
• Work alongside co-founder with industry experience to deliver the highest quality private markets news content available
• Write to our audience of 60,000 investment professionals, executives, founders, and advisory professionals
• Fully remote, with the opportunity to work in person with the team in our Seattle, WA office as desired
• This is a part-time role, up to 20 hours per week, with flexibility on working hours
• For the right fit, an opportunity to grow into a full-time role over the next 6 months as the business scales

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reporting and writing one to three feature stories per week for our flagship newsletter
• Developing sources across private equity, venture capital, private credit, investment banking, consulting and law firms, and public relations firms

WHAT YOU BRING

• At least three years of financial news reporting experience, ideally with a deep understanding of private equity, venture capital, and private credit
• A proven ability to make sources and deliver scoops
• Ability to go deep into public filings, court dockets, equity research, and company financials to unearth information that competing outlets have missed
• An ability to synthesize complex and potentially dry topics into stories that are engaging, accessible to professionals in adjacent fields (e.g. venture investor reading your private credit story), and informative for professionals in the same field (e.g. private equity investor reading your private equity story)
